Sexual Morality Gets Demoted Again

Leo said the unity or division of the Church should not revolve around sexual matters. He complained that people tend to think morality means only sexual morality. Then he said “justice, equality, freedom of men and women, freedom of religion” take priority before that issue. He added that the Holy See does not agree with formalized blessings of homosexual couples, while still defending the Francis line that “all people receive blessings.”

First, concede the narrow procedural point. No formalized blessings. Then immediately downplay the substance. Sexual morality should not divide the Church. Other issues take priority. Everyone is welcome. Everyone is invited. Everyone should seek conversion, though no one in power seems very eager to say conversion from what.

Catholics are not angry because the Church talks too much about sex. Catholics are angry because the modern Vatican has spent years blessing ambiguity, flattering adulterers, platforming sexual revolutionaries, and pretending that sodomy, divorce, contraception, transgender ideology, and homosexual pseudo-marriage are somehow secondary matters compared with “dialogue” and “process.”

The sexual revolution is the anthropology of modernity. It tells man what his body is, what marriage is, what family is, what authority is, what nature is, and whether God has any claim over the flesh.

When churchmen demote sexual morality, they are making terms with the revolution that owns the age.
