The sadomasochism group “Ecumenical Working Group on BDSM and Christianity” will be taking part in the 104th German Catholic Congress (Katholikentag) in Würzburg from 13 to 17 May.
The Katholikentag is one of the largest gatherings of "Catholics" in Germany.
It includes liturgical scandals, political discussions, cultural events, and stands from hundreds of different organisations.
The sadomasochism group will host a stand from 14 to 16 May. Its members are “Christians” from various denominations who discuss sexuality and eroticism "particularly in the field of sadomasochistic sexual preferences".
They aim to remove the taboo surrounding the topic and provide information about sadomasochistic practices within a 'faith' context.
Also present at the Katholikentag will be the 'Network of Catholic Lesbians', which describes itself as an independent, feminist, Catholic-oriented spiritual network.
