A fire severely damaged sections of Mother of Christ Specialist Hospital in Enugu, Nigeria, on May 10, destroying offices, hospital equipment, and part of the children’s ward. Hospital administrator Sister Maria Chinaemerem Igwe said the blaze may have been caused by a power surge.
Despite the destruction, a statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary near the administrator’s office remained completely untouched, even though nearby objects melted and burned. Sister Maria described the event as a miracle talking to EWTN.
