Cardinal Cobo Allocates €30M for Papal Visit
The cost for Leo XIV’s one-and-a-half-day stay in Madrid exceeds €30 million, InfoVaticana.com has learned. This amount corresponds exclusively to the Madrid leg of the trip.
The papal visit from June 6 to 12 will also include Barcelona and the Canary Islands (Tenerife and Gran Canaria).
The Madrid Archdiocese is appealing to the faithful and businesses for financial support.
Significant resources are needed for temporary infrastructure, logistics, venue refurbishment, technical production, additional private security, transportation, institutional coordination and other items typical of a large-scale event.
For historical reference, the 2011 World Youth Day in Madrid with Benedict XVI had an overall organizational cost of around €50-60 million, but that event was longer and had an international dimension.
Madrid Archdiocese is ruined by the pro-homosexual Cardinal José Cobo.
