Warnings regarding potential harmful effects are not entirely new. The *Dharmatrāta Meditation Scripture* is considered the first documented evidence of this technique. According to an article by Miguel Farias, a professor of experimental psychology at Coventry University (UK), this text—written by a Buddhist community in India over 1,500 years ago—describes various mindfulness practices while also mentioning post-meditation effects. These include symptoms of depression and anxiety, as well as cognitive anomalies associated with episodes of psychosis, dissociation, and depersonalization."
